As a teenager who's spent years struggling with a family who always thought that I was "intentionally acting up" to get my parent's goat, I'd like to share some imput.

Being a teenager is hard and you know that because you've been there. You're obviously a dedicated parent who wants the very best for William and he knows that by the way you watch over him and give him the best that you can. No child ever wants their parents to dislike them or to think that they hate them.

What you might think is him intentionally pushing you away is probably him making the first wobbly steps of finding himself. You son isn't his brother and just because he's not growing up in the same way doesn't mean that he's not a good person or that you need to be afraid that he's going to the wayside- with your love and support, how could he?

As for your daughter? 14-year-old girls are notorious for driving their parents up the wall, I know that I did. You have to be a female to understand the havoc adolescence wrecks on your body and mind. It really is a rollarcoaster that the whole family has to survive.

I'm sure that all will "end well" but good luck until you get there.
